Minister C. R. Chaudhary recently answered on Linking of Aadhaar with PDS to Upper House that government order released on 8th February, 2017 notified Aadhaar card as identity document for services, benefits and subsidies delivery purpose which also is a total online based process. Minister also elaborated on the last date September 2017 for PDS Aadhar Link.
No need of multiple id card only Aadhaar card is enough easing PDS Supply to public.
Fully transparent Uid card is convenient and seamless for entitlement fulfillment to a PDS Supply seeker who otherwise is eligible too.
Indian public who is duly qualified to subsidized food grains i.e. government lower priced supply have to produce Aadhar possessed and as alternate to undergo Aadhaar authentication. Well valid Ration Card must be issued the food supply seeker by state authority and naturally it must be linked to relevant aadhar card or cards.
Food Subsidy Cash Transfer in NFSA also is solved with aadhar card as proof as per the government order released on 8th February, 2017 making all things Digital PDS and Online friendly.
What about new PDS seeker entry? Very simple you either have aadhar card or hurry to apply in Aadhaar center for enrolment by 30th June, 2017.
What about UId eligibility? Yes, He or she or other must be entitled to get Aadhaar card as per Section 3 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016
But 30th June, 2017 is now a thing of past, so what to do? Don't worry above said time limit has been extended upto September, 2017 covering citizens residing in Jaisalmer and Bikaner in Rajasthan type remote areas.
Now let us look around for more Digital PDS details.
For effective implementation of and bringing transparency in Public Distribution System (PDS), Government is implementing a scheme on “End-to-end Computerization of Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) Operations”.
The component-I of the scheme comprises digitization of ration cards/beneficiary and other databases, online allocation, computerization of supply-chain management, setting up of transparency portal and grievance redressal mechanisms.
Central Govt. has also asked States/UTs to opt for any of the two models of Direct Benefit Transfer – Cash transfer of food subsidy into the bank account of beneficiaries or Fair Price Shop (FPS) automation, which involves installation of Point of Sale (PoS) device at FPS, for authentication of beneficiaries and electronic capturing of transactions.
The cash transfer of food subsidy is being implemented in 3 UTs namely Chandigarh, Puducherry w.e.f. 1-9-2015 and partially in Dadra & Nagar Haveli w.e.f. 1-3-2016. For remaining areas, States/UTs have been asked for Fair Price Shop (FPS) automation. So far, more than 2.45 lakh FPSs have been automated across the country.
So take it seriously the chance still available, you must have, mandatory aadhar card before September, 2017 to be in PDS Supply System Linking Aadhaar in PDS Database.
